WARSAW, Oct. 24 – The foreign ministers of the Visegrad Group and the Western Balkan countries met in Warsaw on Thursday to discuss cooperation to further promote the development of pro-European development of Western Balkans countries.
The theme of the meeting is the Visegrad Group plus the Balkans. There are also invited Bulgaria, Romania as countries that are interested in this area, and Greece which will hold the presidency over the EU in 2014.
The Greeks are also the authors of the Thessaloniki Agenda 2014, which envisages that the 2014 could be a breakthrough year in terms of cooperation of the EU with the Balkans.
The idea is to emphasize the Visegrad Group interest… in the Balkans accession to the EU. The meeting is held in Warsaw as Poland holds the presidency of the Visegrad Group.
In addition to the ministers of the Visegrad Group, the meeting is to be attended by the foreign ministers of Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and of the Western Balkan countries: Croatia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo, and Republic of Macedonia.
European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fuele is also expected to take part in the consultations.
