TIRANA, Feb 15 – Albania’s Ambassador to Macedonia Vladimir Prela passed away of a heart attack last Saturday.
Prela was appointed Ambassador to Macedonia in 2003, but remained on post after the expiration of the mandate waiting for his successor. Prela was credited with substantial contribution to the good relations between Albania and Macedonia.
In 1999 Prela was appointed as the first Albanian charge d’affaire to Kosova. He also served as chief cabinet of the premier and presidential adviser.
Prela, born in 1949, graduated in philosophy and journalism.
“His early partition was a heavy loss not only for his family, relatives and friends but also for Albanian diplomacy,” said a statement of the Foreign Ministry.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
