Saimir Pirgu’s new album Il mio canto, accompanied by Maggio Fiorentino orchestra and lead by Maestro Speranza Scappucci will be presented in Tirana on March 5, 2016. “[Maggio Fiorentino orchestra] is one of the best orchestras in Italy, with incredible musicians and I thought, who would lead this orchestra better than Speranza Scappucci. She knows very well my voice and how I would want to make my album, so here we are,” according to Pirgu.
His new album brings together some of the world’s most beautiful arias. “These are the most beautiful arias and I want to tell everybody how I sing them. Everyone asks me why I have chosen the most famous arias of the world repertoire as part of my album when any other tenor has interpreted them in their albums. I think that’s exactly why I am doing this, the right moment to show this part of me has come,” Pirgu explained.
Born in 1981 in Elbasan, Albania, Pirgu is considered as ‘one of the artists whose rapid rise on both the opera and concert world provides him with a profile as one of the most known singers in the international lyric world.’ Recognized with prestigious Pavarotti d’Oro Award in 2013, Pirgu has won several prizes such as the first prize at two popular competitions, the Caruso and Tito Schipa in 2002.
Among his successes around the world are “La Bohà¨me” at Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, “The Magic Flute” at La Scala in Milan, “La Traviata” at the New York Metropolitan, San Francisco Operas, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and at the Bayerische Staatsoper, “L’Elisir d’Amore” at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, as well as at the Vienna Staatsoper, “La Clemenza di Tito” at the Paris National Opera, “Lucia di Lammermoor” with the Los Angeles Opera, Washington National Opera and Hamburg Opera, etc.
