Deutsche Telecom enters Albanian cell phone market

TIRANA, March 25–Nationally owned Greek phone company OTE and its cell service branch Cosmote were purchased by the German giant Deutsche Telecom. The deal includes all cell operators in the Balkans owned by Cosmote such as AMC, an Albanian cell operator with 1.3 Mln clients. Cosmote controls 97.6% in AMC stakes. The introduction of DT in the Balkans, mainly Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, and Albania is expected to boost the market with the latest technologies and services.
