TIRANA, May 28 – The tax administration has called on the hotel and tourism, private health services and construction industries, where it has identified fraud operators to review the financial statements they have submitted with the authorities if they don’t want to suffer penalties during inspections. In a statement, the tax administration calls on these risk operators to review statements submitted with the tax authorities until June 30, 2013 also offering its assistance.
“In 2012, these sectors were involved in tax evasion. The private health services sector represents 4 percent of the total taxpayers registered for VAT and some of them declare annual turnover of less than 2 million lek (Euro 14,000),” says the tax administration.
The analysis carried out by the customs administration has revealed huge differences between the declared activity and the real activity. The threshold to register for value added tax is 5 million lek of annual turnover. Occupations such as lawyers, notaries public, dentists, economists, architects are automatically included in the VAT scheme.
