Opera House wins Nutcracker Gold 2016 award in Italy

NTOB has recently won Lo Schiaccianoci d’Oro 2016 (The Nutcracker Gold 2016) award in Italy. The award is going to be handed to NTOB at the Festival Internazionale della Danza e delle Danza held in Rome, Italy from June 25-27, 2016, according to the director of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet (NTOB) IIir Kerni.

Kerni announced the news after receiving an official letter by the festival’s artistic director Maria Pia Liotta, who informed him that NTOB has been selected as the winner of International award “Lo Schiaccianoci d’Oro 2016, section, L’Eccellenza nel Mondo dei Theatre unanimously by all members of the festival. The Nutcracker Gold Award is given to excellent national theatres and operas all over the world.

The Albanian ballet troupe was praised in Serbia a few weeks ago after performing the choreographic pieces of La Stravaganza & Noces by Angelin Preljocaj in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and NiŠ¡ on April 8, 9, and 10, 2016. “Stravaganza Ballet reminds me of my personal history, the path I have followed. I am very touched that this part will be staged by the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet,” according to Preljocaj.

“Although the troupe of the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet has performed many times abroad, this tour is an important event in terms of cooperation and exchanges in art and culture between Albania and Serbia,” according to a press release by the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Festival Dance is one of the most important events in the region. So far, around 200 choreography pieces have been performed. The invitation to participate came from Dejan Savic, Director of the National Opera of Belgrade who came to Albania on September 26, 2015 after an invitation from Kerni.
