TIRANA, Oct. 26 – In November Albania will take over the leadership of the Mine Ban Convention at a ceremony to be held in Geneva, Switzerland.
Last year Albania declared it was free of landmines.
Albania will take over the one-year presidency of the convention starting Nov. 29.
The States Parties have already designated Gazmend Turdiu, Secretary General of the Albanian Foreign Ministry, as President. Turdiu will have his first official press conference here in Geneva next week.
