TIRANA, June 17 – The majority of Austrian businesses operating in Albania describe the current economic situation in Albania as unfavorable and are not very enthusiastic about 2015, according to a survey conducted by the Austrian Commercial Office in Tirana.
A majority of 73 percent of Austrian companies operating in Albania described the current economic situation as not good and bad. Only around 40 percent of the surveyed companies said they expect Albania’s economic situation to improve for 2015.
“Austrian investments in Albania are estimated at 400 million euros with some 50 companies having invested. Their opinion is that the business climate deteriorated last year. The public administration, corruption and delays in payments are the top concerns for the companies,” said Peter Hasslacher, the head of Advantage Austria for Slovenia, Albania and Kosovo.
Austrian companies and their Albanian partners request legal security, fight against corruption and simplified tax laws.
Austrian companies in Albanian operate in a number of sector with leading investments in the banking, insurance and hydro-electricity sectors.
