TIRANA, June 15 – Italy-based Albanian painter Zhan Tase is back home with his first exhibition after more than two decades of migration in Italy.

Migration, family, poverty, love and everyday lifestyle have inspired the artist to create a cycle of thirty modern paintings which are being displayed for the first time in Tirana at an exhibition at the National History Museum.

“I have reflected in this exhibition styled and painted moments of everyday life. These are all motifs from life in Albania starting with the exodus in the early 1990s which remains a current topic even nowadays. Then, there are moments like street begging in Tirana,” says Tase.

Women in all their dimensions, the coffee culture and the waste of time are also treated in Tase’s modern and cubist-style paintings.

The exhibition will be open until June 20.
