TIRANA, May 28 – “Long day’s journey into night,” a drama in four acts written by American playwright Eugene O’Neill is making its premiere at the National Theatre in Tirana this weekend in a stage by Albanian director Spiro Duni. Veteran actors Yllka Mujo and Artan Imami are performing in the lead roles.
Published only three years after O’Neill’s death, the play is widely considered to be his masterwork and earned him the 1957 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
“Long Day’s Journey Into Night” is the story of a devastating day in the Tyrone family. The play depicts the family members’ downward spiral into addiction, disease, and their own haunted pasts. It is generally regarded as Eugene O’Neill’s masterpiece.
The play will stage on May 31 and June 1 at the National Theatre.
