TIRANA, Sept. 23 – Mira Meksi has been selected for a second time to represent Albania in the Balkanika Literary Award which this year is scheduled to be held in Bulgaria in early October.
Meksi, a renowned writer and translator will represent Albania with her latest novel “Mallkimi i Priftereshave te Lirise,” which has proved a success in Albania.
The jury described Meksi’s latest novel as a confession between history and legend in an Illyrian-Hellenic geographical, cultural and mythological background with a Balkan dimension making it competitive.
Meksi will be competing with well-known authors from Bulgaria, Greece, Romania, Macedonia, Turkey and Serbia in the annual competition scheduled to be held in Sofia from October 2 to 4.
Back in 2011, Meksi represented Albania in Balkanika with “E kuqja e Demava (The bulls’ red) novel set on Spanish background.
The Balkanika prize was founded by seven publishers from Albania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Greece, Romania and Turkey with the aim of bringing Balkan writers and publishers together. Every year, the winning book is translated into the languages of all the participating countries.
