TIRANA, Aug. 31 – President Ilir Meta accepted the letter of credence of the new Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Albania, Guusje Korthals Altes.
Meta praised the very good relations between the two countries and expressed gratitude for the attention the Netherlands devotes to cooperating with Albania, particularly within the European framework and meeting key priorities.
In particular, he expressed appreciation for the contribution and support coming from the Netherlands in support of projects for the promotion and respect of human rights as well as for the functionality of the rule of law.
Focusing on bilateral relations, President Meta welcomed the growing interest of large Dutch companies to invest in the Albanian market.
He expressed the confidence the Netherlands will continue to rank first in the list of major strategic investors in Albania.
Ambassador Altes is the successor of Ambassador Dewi van de Weerd, who was first appointed to Tirana in 2015.
She attended the John Hopkins University and did a masters at the University of Groningen. She has previously worked as a policy adviser and as the Head of the Economic Section in the Warsaw Embassy, as well as in the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
