Puccini’s Turandot, a premiere in Tirana

TIRANA, Dec. 1- Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot is the new premiere being staged at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet. Directed by Nicola Zorzi, and under Edmond Doko, the opera comes as an Italian-Albanian cooperation.
Eva Golemi, Irini Nikolla and Armaldo Kllogjeri star in the opera which comes as an absolute premiere this weekend in cooperation with the Italian Institute of Culture.
The opera will staged for four evenings starting from Dec. 3, and continuing on Dec. 5, 7 and 9 at 19.00.
Turandot is an opera in three acts by Giacomo Puccini, set to a libretto in Italian by Giuseppe Adami and Renato Simoni. The first performance was held at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan on April 25, 1926 and conducted by Arturo Toscanini.
The event comes after several musical performances commemorating the eighth anniversary of the beatification of Mother Teresa, the world-famous nun of Albanian origin and a gala concert paying tribute to late Albanian soprano Marije Kraja on her 100th birth anniversary.
