TIRANA, Nov. 22- Arthur Miller’s drama, “View From The Bridge” was first performed in Albania forty years ago when an important name in Albanian theater, Piro Mani, put it on stage with a completely different staff and under a different context. The second time this play is to be staged in Albania will be November 23rd to December 9th. The director this time is the equally experienced Albert Minga, and the main roles go to well-known names of Albanian theatre including the actor Timo Flloko (Edi Karbone), Yllka Mujo, Bujar Asqeriu, Fatos Sela, Indrit ȯbani. “View From The Bridge” brings Timo Flloko a new responsibility as a theater actor and also carrying the example of Piro Mani’s excellent performance and memory.

The political drama
“View From The Bridge” is Miller’s difficult and complex work of art which carries a deep, philosophical background with a political message as well as psychological discoveries. The American play writer finished it in 1950, at the beginning of the Cold War when communism became a frightening threat to Americans and Miller himself was judged for being sympathetic to it. In the beginning, the plan was to turn it into a movie together with the famous movie director Elia Kazan. The story reflects the real life experiences of immigrant life in New York in which the main hero emigrant, Edi Karbone, has to sacrifice much of his family, friendships and neighbors to the insecurity of his life in the tough city. Given Miller’s philo-communist beliefs, Mani took permission to stage the play in Korca immediately after his return form Moscow where he completed his art education. The play carries a serious responsibility for the complex character of Edi, who also has a suspicious sexual record and consciousness. The authorities in Albania prohibited the repetition of the show.
