Some 1.7 billion leks abused from public institutions

TIRANA, Aug. 25 – Internal audit made by the Finance Ministry showed that some 1.7 billion leks of public funds have been abused from the public institutions during the first half this year. The ministry said it had held audit in 83.7 percent of the institutions.
The same audit a year ago showed some 1.4 billion abused leks but authorities said they had audited many more institutions this year. They also added such an abuse has been done from authorities last year, meaning they had checked operations of last year. The authorities said they had taken to the court some 838 persons.
