INSIG to be privatized next year

TIRANA, Oct. 19 – Deputy Finance Minister Shefredin Shehu said that privatization of INSIG, the state owned insurance company, would be completed next year. INSIG operates in Albania but also in Macedonia, Montenegro and Kosova. The news was given to the Italian Sole 24 Ore newspaper by the Italian Embassy in Tirana. An ad-hoc committee is created in the Finance Ministry to make a feasibility study about the timing and the operations of the sale. INSIG is owned by the Albanian government with 61 percent and the remaining 39 eprcent equally split between the International Finance Corporation, a World Bank group, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
