TIRANA, Dec. 1 – Tirana has urged political dialogue in Kosovo and cooperation on security issues, as Defense Minister Mimi Kodheli made a visit to the neighboring country.

She discussed key concerns with her Kosovar counterpart, Haki Demolli, including recent political developments in Kosovo, where protesters have clashed with security forces following the arrest of MPs who have repeatedly disrupted parliamentary proceedings with tear gas.

Kodheli said that dialogue and political solutions are the best way to resolve political disputes.

Kodheli also said that the global threat from terrorism was another main topic of discussion. She said that the armed conflict in Syria and the destabilization of the situation in Middle East in general, the refugee crisis and the armed conflict in Ukraine are of great concern for the region and Europe as a whole.

In a meeting, the two defence ministers said the region is not immune to terrorist attacks despite the religious harmony ethnic Albanians in the region enjoy.

“Terrorism wants to sow panic, but we are here not to allow that,” said Kodheli.
