TIRANA, Dec. 18 – Italian Justice Minister Andrea Orlando made a visit to Albania, expressing Rome’s support to the Albania efforts of integration into the European Union.
During the visit, Orlando also met with Interior Minister Saimir Tahiri to discuss on the joint fight from both countries against organized crime and terrorism
They also talked on the Albania efforts of integration into the bloc and also the refugee crisis.
“We are aware that the challenges in that fight as against organized crime and terrorism know no bounders,” said Tahiri, pledging his country’s further modest contribution in that global fight.
Orlando said that the two countries had an “excellent cooperation in the joint fight against organized crime and we should put that more in practice and intensify it also for the two emergency situation we are confronted with: that of emigration, the clandestine immigration and the other a new fundamentally dangerous like that of terrorism.”
The Italian minister pledged further support and cooperation between the institutions in both countries.
He said that will also be applied in increasing the investigation process and also preventing people from being recruited from the terrorist groupings in Arab countries.
Italy has been one of Albania’s main supporters in its post-communist period.
