TIRANA, Sept. 19 – Albanian Finance Minister Ridvan Bode asked for the support of the World Bank in the construction of the Durres-Kukes road. An Albanian delegation is taking part at the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank held in Singapore. Bode met with World Bank manager Biagio Bossone. The Albanian government has made construction of this road a top priority which it aims at completing by the end of tits mandate in 2009.
Bode made the same request to the head of the IMF department for Europe Michael Deppler. Bode asked that the IMF should be more flexible in the support to the building of this road that for the moment is funded with domestic money. The IMF could serve to find more foreign resources.
