TIRANA, Sept. 26 – Prime Minister Sali Berisha met Tuesday with World Bank vice President Shigeo Katsu presenting to him the Albania, 1 euro idea. They discussed on other projects that the bank could fund in many spheres in Albania. The World Bank has been one of the main funders of post-communist Albania with many projects around the country.Berisha said his government was determined to further deepen the cooperation with the bank. Both officials also discussed on Albania’s needs to fight corruption and organized crime and also improve the business climate in the tiny Balkan country.
Since Albania joined the World Bank in 1991, the bank’s commitments to the country have totaled approximately US$840 million for 59 operations.
